The Big Four-Oh

Well, my birthday weekend didn’t exactly make a 180 turnaround, but it worked out fine.

At the last minute, Raymond called me and asked me out for a drink with some of his friends at JR’s (he didn’t even remember it was my birthday, although I’d mentioned it a couple of days earlier!). And then, while I was walking along the street to an ATM, I ran into Henry, who I’d been trying all day to reach by phone. I roped him into going to dinner with me.

That turned out to be very special. We had dinner at a place I love — but rarely go — in Adams Morgan, called Saigonnais (Vietnamese, in case you coudn’t guess). And then, as a special treat, Henry took me to Cashion’s Eat Place, a couple blocks away, for dessert. And Henry paid for everything: Thanks, Buddy!

I’ve never been to Cashion’s, but the decor was very welcoming and the desserts were out of this world. So I’ve gotta go back there for dinner sometime soon. Henry said, “That sounds like a good third date with Bob.” I couldn’t agree more.
