- Over the weekend, I met a guy at the Eagle I thought was adorable, who was pretty clearly into me as well. African-American, cute, from Stockton, named Anthony. But after we’d been talking a while, it came out that he has an “incredibly jealous boyfriend.” He said the relationship was on its last legs, so I suggested maybe we should exchange numbers. He replied, quite rightly, that I didn’t want to get involved in his “drama.” So I just gave him my number and told him to call me if he wanted. If he doesn’t, I’ll certainly understand, and it’s probably for the best.
- Also over the weekend, I made a great potential job contact at Lizard Lounge: a guy, David McKillop, who’s a principal in Big Rock Productions here in the DC area, which has numerous series for History Channel, Discovery, etc. I gave him my number and he actually e-mailed me yesterday. Really nice guy, with a plan in the works to launch a gay cable net. Must have dinner with him at the earliest opportunity.
- I got a good job referral recently from the recently-ex-producer of Dream Builders. She gave my name to Todd Easton, who’s producing a series for HGTV called House Detective, which follows home inspectors on their appointed rounds. He gave me a call, and we had a really great meeting. So I’m now on their list, and scheduled to field produce and write two segments in the next couple of weeks.
- Training for WRC News4 is ongoing. They seem very happy both with my writing, and with the speed at which I’ve picked up their system.
- I heard from the Twin Cities Public Television recruiter that she got my tapes. And, oh by the way, she was misinformed, and the salary for the job is about $15,000 less than she’d told me. But it’s still a heck of a lot of money, especially in Minnesota, so I told her to proceed with my application.
- I got an e-mail yesterday from my hot, Costa Rican ‘boyfriend-for-the-weekend,’ Henry. He very sadly let me know he didn’t have any “look” (luck) arranging a visa to come back to the States anytime soon, and asked me to send him copies of the Sheridan’s ads he modeled for while he was staying with me. He said, “I miss u and I miss Body.” (Buddy) He also invited me to visit him in CR, but I wonder if I’ll ever see him again.
- This morning Jason Sands called to ask if I was still interested in putting in a few weeks in LA, editing Murder in Small Town X. I said I was and he said he’d put my name in.
- It would be great if all of these career possibilities would translate into immediate cash money, ’cause I’m once again broke and going further into debt to pay the rent. It’ll work out in the long term, of course, but meantime it’s very, very stressful.
Finally, even though I’m broke, Raymond and I are going with a couple of his friends to Rehoboth Beach over the weekend for a little R&R in the sun. I need the break, but I’ve got to keep it cheap.
