Back to the News Grind

My first day of newswriter training at WRC News4 was today. It went quite well, although I didn’t actually write anything. I just shadowed two other veteran newswriters while they showed me the ropes. Everyone was nice, and at least it’s a pretty serious news shop, so it’s not an embarrasment to do the work — although, as I noted when I went in for my writing test — rewriting wire copy is still pretty dreary work.

Tomorrow is day two of training, and then I will supposedly be put into the freelance schedule, although who knows when my first real day will be.
