On the way up to Bethlehem on Thursday afternoon, Beauyn called me on my cell phone, and we chatted for a few minutes. He kept saying stuff like “I can’t get you off my mind,” and “I keep seeing your face.”

Because I was in a production van with my crew, I couldn’t really explore what all this meant, and he didn’t really connect the dots. But it sounded to me like he was saying he had developed a crush on me. This in spite of the fact that we’ve been really clear with each other that his exclusive focus on getting fisted means I’m never gonna work out for him sexually. And never mind the fact that I’m sixteen years older than him. I really like him as a friend, though — and of course, I think he’s very cute to look at. I don’t want to lose him as a friend, and I sort of think we need to talk about this instead of just letting it sit there as an elephant in the living room.

I spent the afternoon with him yesterday at the baton twirling state championships — see today’s other entry — but we weren’t able to discuss the issue there, either. We were gonna have dinner and go to Remingtons last night, but he went home and fell into a coma after an exhausting day of baton practice, so maybe we’ll discuss it this week.

Friday night, after we drove back from Bethlehem, I went out to the Eagle, and saw this guy who I’d flirted with in the past, Allen: tall, slim, muscular, very dark, and very handsome. I haven’t seen him in a couple of months, though, and he didn’t seem to show any signs of recognizing me at the Eagle, so I was kind of bummed. Then I got the bright idea to take off my baseball cap, and lo and behold, he stopped me and said, “Hey, are you Tim?” Eureka! We chatted for a bit (the conversation lagged a little — we don’t really know each other), then I went off to get a drink. As I was walking around the bar, he came up and said he was leaving, nice to see me again, etc., and gave me a very warm hug. I guess this was my cue to ask him out or ask him over or whatever, but as usual, I missed it. And I don’t have his number so now I have to wait and just hope to run into him again. Drats, again.

There have been a couple of noteworthy curiousities this weekend.
