I called him when I woke up, and he backed out of the trip, citing a pressing need to participate in a practice bike trip for the AIDS Ride. Then he called me back ten minutes later and said he&#8217;d changed his mind and wanted to go to Philly. Ten minutes after that, he called <i>again<\/i> to say he was backing out for sure, after all. OK, whatever.<\/p>\n<p>So it was just me and Beauyn (I&#8217;ve known him for months, and just learned the correct spelling of his first name today!) on the road to the City of Brotherly Love an hour later. We got there in just over two hours (I got a little lost trying to find the gay district) and had a fine time cruising the street fair in absolutely perfect weather.<\/p>\n<p>In late afternoon, Beauyn and I checked out the local leather bar, then in the evening attended the <i>Scout&#8217;s Honor<\/i> screening, which went well except that it was a little disorganized and the sound on the projection TV system was absolutely <i>horrible.<\/i> Still it was great seeing James Dale again &#8212; he&#8217;s looking really good and his boyfriend is adorable.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of running into folks: at the street fair I ran into Jim Wilke, who had a crush on me 20 years ago in L.A., and on whom I had a crush 6 years ago here in DC, and who now has a dream museum job (train-related) in Pennsylvania Amish country. <\/p>\n<p><i>And,<\/i> as fantasized, I actually did get to meet Charlie, of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.changingcam.com\/\">Changing Cam<\/a>. There he was, standing on a street corner at the Festival. I&#8217;d warned Beauyn I&#8217;d be looking for him, and when I chirped, &#8220;There he is!&#8221; Beauyn ran over and introduced himself, towing me along behind.
