California, Here I Am
It’s been a while since I made an entry here, partly because I’ve been very busy with work, and partly because I was pretty bummed about Bob — but didn’t have much to say about it, really.
Now I’m feeling a little better. I’ve met a few interesting guys at the Eagle, the Green Lantern, and Titans, and I’m not feeling so down.
I’m writing this from San Francisco. I came out here for a family event. My step-father, Bob, is fighting cancer, and some of his friends in the Bohemian Club decided to buy the club a very fine (read: expensive) piano to honor him. Last night was the big recital to dedicate the piano, which included performances by Bob, other Bohemian pianists, singers, and a string quartet. It was beautiful and very moving. I’m quite sure I’ll remember it as long as I live.
Tomorrow I’m flying down to Los Angeles for a few days of R & R, time with friends, and (not least of all) lunch with good old Jon Murray, friend and co-executive producer of The Real World. As I predicted, there are no immediate job opportunities at Bunim-Murray due to show cancellations they’ve suffered since Sept. 11th. But things may pick up for them early next year, and Jon invited me to come by for a little meet and greet, so I thought the detour to L.A. was worthwhile.
