Career Uncertainty Continues
Well, GayBC is sorta out of business. They’re still online with archive shows. And John (the founder/president) is working on various plans to get back on the air in some form or other. But its definitely the end of an era. Finally, the dot-com crash hits home for me.
I was talking with John about tying up some loose GayBC ends, and I mentioned that I had met a mutual friend, this Brad guy I mentioned earlier. (He told me he’d met John at Gay Pride a couple of years ago when GayBC was on the rise, and they’d had a business dinner about Brad’s possible involvement — he’s an MIS-type guy.) John told me a little more about him, and pointed me to his personal website. Hmm, very interesting. Kind of confirms my earlier impressions, both positive and negative.
I’m back on the horns of a job dilemma: I interviewed yet again for a producing job — another one — at NAHB, the Old Homes Restored people. It’s a pretty good job and it solves my ongoing health insurance problem. But they money is less than I’m used to making. And, of course, if I take this job, I won’t be taking the great Twin Cities Public Television position. (I have, however, left a message with the TPT recruiter asking them for an update on their progress toward a decision.) But you know what they say: a job in the hand is worth two in the bush.
