How Can I Miss You When You Won’t Go Away?

John Wetzl and I had a great couple of days together. On Friday, I showed him JR’s, we had dinner at Lauriol Plaza (my favorite Washington restaurant), and went to the Eagle, which he really liked.

In fact, he liked it so much we went again on Saturday night, where he hooked up. Sunday, he went to visit a friend in Baltimore, then left in the evening to take Amtrak to NYC.

So imagine my surprise when, after spending some time last night at Remington’s (danced with cute half-Asian guy, Dwayne), I went to the Eagle for a nightcap and there was John! Turned out he had mistakenly believed that Avis had a rental return at Union Station, which it does not. So rather than hassling the roundtrip to National Airport to return the car, he just took a motel room with the plan to return the car to the Avis downtown this morning.

This may have worked out well for him, as when I left the Eagle, he was closing the deal with a cute new bartender. I must call and ask how that went.
