Rehoboth Was Fun

Last weekend, Raymond and I went with his office-mate Joe to Rehoboth Beach. We’d planned to stay right in town at the Atlantic Budget Inn, but had to change plans when my dog-sitting arrangements fell through. We stayed instead at the Renegade resort, because they permit pets.

It was a fine way to spend a weekend, as Rehoboth always is. The weather was mostly great, except for overcast skies on Sunday. But there were lots of cute guys, as usual; the beach was fine; and the Blue Moon and Double-L bars were fun as well.

I was kind of hoping to hook up — and even had a can’t-miss opportunity. The motel rooms at the Renegade are right across from the dance club, and I guess it’s not uncommon for people looking for a hook-up to hang out on the motel steps, as one cute Hispanic guy was doing. But basically, when you’re staying one one small-ish motel room with two other guys and a dog, your options are quite limited… so nothing happened.

Yesterday and today, I have my old college friend John Wetzl staying with me. John’s on a two-week tour around the country (Miami, here, and New York) trying to decide if he wants to move away from SF after twenty years there. I love John, and we’re actually more comfortable with each other now than we have been in years. So it’s been a fun 24 hours.

Finally, I’m still waiting to hear from Murder In Smalltown X. They called me after Jason put my name in for producing editor, and asked for a résumé, which I sent. Then they asked for a revised résumé, which I also prepared and sent. Then they asked for a list of references — which made it sound to me like they were ready to hire me. Since then, nothing. I talked to Jason, and he said the hiring process there is as much a mystery as the show itself. So at the moment I have no idea whether I’m going to be spending five weeks this summer in L.A. or not. But in any case, the WRC work is becoming pretty regular and I’m now going to be occassionally producing segments for House Detectives on HGTV. So at least at least the starving thing is soon to end. I hope.
