Going to Philly Tomorrow for Scout’s Honor

This is definitely the “Year of Scout’s Honor” for me. Scout’s Honor is the title of a film by Tom Shepard about the gays-in-Scouting issue. The film mainly focuses on Scouting for All and its leaders, Scott and Steve Cozza and Dave Rice, all of whom are straight. But I’m a major supporting character in the story the film tells, so I’ve been a heavily involved in efforts to promote the film since its debut at the Sundance Film Festival in January, where it won two awards. I was in Park City, Utah, for one weekend of the festival, I travelled to San Francisco last month for its premiere there…

And tomorrow, I’m going to Philadelphia, for a Scout’s Honor screening at PrideFest. At the moment, both Bowen and Henry have expressed an interest in coming with. We’ll see if either or both actually go.

Finally, a secret admission: I’m hoping I run into Charlie, proprietor of Changing Cam, who lives in Philadelphia. When I first encountered his site, I thought he was just another cute guy with a webcam. But over the last few days I’ve been reading the short stories he has posted on his site and, well… All I can say is, “Wow!” Cute guy with a webcam who can WRITE! The stories are amazingly well-written and touching. And you know the formula: Cute+smart+talented=object-of-crush.
